Klagenfurt, Austria – 07.08.2026 – How can tomorrow’s leaders successfully navigate digital transformation while advancing sustainability and keeping ethical and human values at the centre of decision-making? This challenge is at the heart of TwinLead – Leadership and Management of the Twin Digital and Green Transition, a newly funded project under the Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM).

ETCOP is pleased to join the international TwinLead consortium as the Austrian project partner, contributing to the development of a new international joint Master’s programme focused on leadership and management in the context of Europe’s twin digital and green transition.

Coordinated by Bursa Uludağ University, Türkiye, the project brings together Polytechnic of Setúbal, Portugal, Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and ETCOP Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, Austria.

Preparing leaders for two transformations at once

Digitalisation and sustainability are no longer separate transformation processes. Organisations increasingly need leaders who can understand technological innovation, evaluate its wider implications and translate it into responsible and sustainable organisational strategies.

TwinLead responds to this need by developing an interdisciplinary Master’s programme that connects leadership and management with Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, digital transformation, sustainability, ethics and human values. Rather than approaching these fields in isolation, the programme will explore how they interact in real-world leadership and management contexts.

Innovative educational approaches will be an important part of the programme design. The project will explore active and blended learning, AI-supported learning, virtual reality and immersive learning scenarios, creating an educational framework that combines technological developments with contemporary approaches to higher education.

From technological change to responsible leadership

For ETCOP, the project provides an opportunity to bring its interdisciplinary perspective into the design of a programme addressing a rapidly changing leadership landscape. ETCOP’s contribution will particularly connect questions of emerging technologies and digital transformation with responsible innovation, sustainability and future-oriented education.

“The twin transition is not simply about introducing new technologies while becoming more sustainable. It fundamentally changes how organisations need to be led. Future leaders must be able to understand technological possibilities, sustainability requirements and their ethical and human implications at the same time. TwinLead gives us the opportunity to translate this interdisciplinary perspective into an international educational programme.” — Anna Stein, ETCOP Board Member and TwinLead Project Team

Through collaboration across Türkiye, Portugal, Bulgaria and Austria, the partners will work towards a programme that prepares graduates to lead transformation processes across organisational, technological and societal boundaries.

TwinLead therefore goes beyond developing a new curriculum. Its ambition is to create the foundation for an international and interdisciplinary educational model for responsible leadership in the digital and green transition.
